Hello. My name is Shadrack Ouma, currently a fourth year student of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology. I joined this institution back in 2019 where I am pursuing bachelor of Education (Science with IT). It has been a great journey right since my kindergarten till now that I am in a tertiary institution.

My dream had always been to be a teacher and certainly, I am just about to achieve it. I still have the passion of furthering my studies if opportunity allows and specialise further. I like it so much. I will be proud bearing the tittle prof one day😁 and I know it's possible.

Much thanks to SSF and the partners who have been with me throughout this journey, which otherwise could have remained a dream forever. My heart rejoices when I think of SSF. It has made me travel miles I never believed I could. What an experience🤗🤗🤗

Shadrack is a another of our students who has been with us since he was about 15. He stayed at Tom's compound for his secondary schooling and used the security and stability which had previously been absent from his daily routines to perform very impressively in all his examination work. Consequently his route towards a Science/IT teaching degree was always fairly certain if he could find just a little funding to help him with the basics (food etc). Yet again sponsors came forward and a little extra has been found on a monthly basis which he is incredibly grateful for but also very sensibly frugal with. However his university future almost failed to start when all students had to study online as COVID threatened Kenya. Without a good working laptop he would have no option but to defer. Again rather miracuously a pair of sponsors not only found a good laptop but they also got it totally refurbished and it reached him via Jake and Martin's last visit in the week that the 'lockdown' started. In typical Shadrack style he was not just grateful but he has grabbed the opportunity with open arms and is now approaching his final exams in the not too distant future. We wish all the success he deserves in this final very important year.
