Miriu Christmas - The Old and the Needy - 2023

In some respects the students that are bright but very poor who are then selected for SSF sponsorship help bring a bonus to their families. They get some food and crop help throughout the year but additionally if they succeed in their final exams, they can often get good jobs and bring a wage in to their very poor families.

Many other families get no such help. In fact many 'Grandmas' find themselves as the only surviving relative for several grandchildren as AIDs can decimate the 'inbetween parents' generation. These elderly ladies should be relaxing in their senior years but instead they are still working as hard as they ever had with a lot of mouths to feed.

Illness and poverty make their difficult task all the harder. So SSF combines with the women's church group - Acts of Mercy to get bags of food, mosquito nets and warm blankets to as many as possible with Christmas being a focal point for as many as possible. They don't get a lot per family group but all are so grateful.
