Holidays are usually a time for both teachers and students to look forward to. In 2022 all our students and teachers will have done a full year and a half's teaching and learning so that work missed in 2021 (due to lockdown) can be caught up.
So I imagine many teachers are feeling absolutely worn out and in a real need of a Christmas break. However our students may have far more mixed emotions because at least when they are at school meals are provided with the fees that our sponsors pay.
Holidays can mean very little food for many until school restarts in January. So SSF working in conjunction with the church group: Acts of Mercy, have bought bags of food for as many of our sponsored students and also the elderly and very poor within the local community. Each photo tells a story. Large groups of siblings looked after by one older child (usually one of our sponsored students). A student whose only parent is very ill or simply a family that will go very hungry until the next crop can be harvested. This green bag of food with just a few limited contents (rice, maize etc) will mean at least a few meals for some of Miriu's poorest.. Thank you to all of you who made this possible and Happy Christmas.
